The organisation of the VMSG educational and training programme is the task of the Educational Committee (OPCOM, Opleidingscommissie), which consists of 2 faculty staff members and 3 Ph.D. students selected from both Delft and Utrecht research groups. The educational/training programme consists of both individual and collective elements:
    • Courses: These include components from the undergraduate programme and are meant to cover possible deficiencies in the background of the Ph.D. student, and are generally selected on an individual basis.
    • Special courses, focussing on specific knowledge or skills. These include training by faculty staff on a one-to-one basis as well as group training covering advanced topics or research techniques.
    • Integrated Geodynamics Seminars (IGD). This is a series of seminars covering a range of broad topics, which have in common that they are directly related to the research within the various disciplines within VMSG (geology, geophysics, and space geodesy). Focus is on overview rather than on details.
    • Workshops, aiming at interactive topical discussions and/or hands-on experience with analytical techniques.
    • Field excursion, focussing on geodynamic processes in relation to surface expressions.
Current and past IGD programme are listed here.
